Hajj – Step by StepIhram (State of Purification)
Hajj begins when the pilgrim enters the state of ihram, a special ritual of purification and clothing. Men wear two unstitched white cloths, and women wear simple, modest garments. This marks the beginning of the pilgrim state, during which certain actions such as cutting hair or nails are prohibited.
Tawaf (Circumambulation)The pilgrim walks seven times around the Kaaba, the sacred building in Mecca. This act symbolizes devotion to God and is an essential part of worship.
Sa’i (The Running)The pilgrim walks or runs seven times between the hills of Safa and Marwa, commemorating Hagar, the wife of Abraham, who searched for water for her son Ishmael.
Stay in MinaOn the 8th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, pilgrims travel to Mina, where they spend the night in prayer and reflection.
Day of ArafatOn the 9th day, pilgrims gather on the plains of Arafat and spend the day in prayer, which is considered the pinnacle of Hajj. It is the day when God forgives sins.
MuzdalifahAfter sunset, pilgrims head to Muzdalifah, where they collect small stones for the next ritual. The night is spent in prayer and rest.
The Stoning Ritual in MinaPilgrims throw the collected stones at three pillars representing Satan. This symbolizes the rejection of temptation and evil forces.
The Sacrifice (Udhiyah)An animal, usually a sheep or goat, is sacrificed as part of the ritual, symbolizing Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son for God. Part of the meat is distributed to those in need.
Tawaf al-IfadahAfter the sacrifice, the pilgrim performs another circumambulation around the Kaaba. This step completes the Hajj.
Shaving the HeadMen shave their heads, and women cut a small portion of their hair to mark the end of Hajj.

Umrah – Step by StepIhram (State of Purification)
Just like in Hajj, Umrah begins by entering the state of ihram, during which special clothing rules and restrictions apply.
Tawaf (Circumambulation)The pilgrim walks seven times around the Kaaba in Mecca as an act of devotion and worship.
Sa’i (The Running)As in Hajj, seven rounds are performed between the hills of Safa and Marwa in remembrance of Hagar’s search for water.
Hair Cutting or ShavingThe pilgrim completes Umrah by shaving or trimming the hair, symbolizing purification and renewal.
