STUDY VISIT

Rules for visiting a mosque

Uppsala Mosque welcomes over 1,000 study visitors each year. During these visits, participants have the opportunity to walk around the mosque building and gain a unique insight into the world religion of Islam.

A study visit typically lasts about one hour, during which participants become familiar with the building and have their questions answered by mosque guides. A visit to Uppsala Mosque is not only an informational session, but also an experience that offers direct contact with the religion of Islam and the Muslims’ place of worship—the mosque.

Our guides tailor the study visits to the needs of the group, ranging from primary school students to academics.

VISIT

Rules for study visits to mosques

At the main entrance to the mosque, you usually take off your shoes; there are shoe racks where you can place your shoes, and inside the mosque hall is a completely covered carpet.
Please note that it is not appropriate to come to the mosque dressed too lightly, as this may be considered inappropriate by other visitors. For example, you should not wear shorts, short skirts or shirts/t-shirts with very low necklines. It is best to wear clothes that cover your legs and arms.
Please keep a low noise level inside the mosque hall. The mosque is a place for rest and worship, so loud noises can disturb those praying.
Undvik telefonsamtal inne i bönehallen.
It is advisable to prepare your questions in advance for the visit.
Förbered gärna frågor i förväg.
